Women’s Handball World Championship : Cameroon Qualify For Round Two

The national women’s handball team has qualified for the main group phase of the ongoing 2023 Women’s World Handball Championship in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The handball lionesses beat Paraguay 26-23 in their last group B preliminary round match on Monday November 4, 2023 at the Helsingborg Arena. From the victory the Lionesses have advanced as the third from the group behind Montenegro and Hungary.
After missing out in their first two games, the girls of Coach Bertin Tabeth Njantou had no choice but to win their third match. It was with this determination that the Lionesses began the match. It was a tough encounter for both teams the game ended 12-12 in the first half. The lionesses fought hard in the second half and finally took the lead winning game 26-23. Cameroon’s Paola Ebanga was the most valuable player of Monday’s match. That was the first victory of the senior women’s handball team in the World Cup. Cameroon lost to Montenegro 25-11 in their first game and equally lost to Hungary 39-20.
Despite the first two defeats, the team was not discouraged. The players showed proof of solidarity and fighting spirt to overcome their opponents. Coach Bertin Njantou expressed satisfaction with the performance of the layers. He said the objective of the team before going to the World Championship
