U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers : Lionesses En Route To Cairo

They will face Egypt’s U-20 team on Friday January 12, 2024 in the first leg of the fourth and last qualifying round.

The national U-20 women’s football team leaves the country today January 9, 2024 for Cairo, Egypt where they will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in the first leg of the fourth and last round qualifiers for the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Colombia. Prior to their departure, the Lionesses trained intensively in their hide out in Yaounde in order to ensure the best result in Egypt. Training focused on ball control and attacking speed. During their training session, the U-20 Lionesses played friendly matches with some local teams in the country. 
After a short break due to the end-of-year feasts, the players returned to camp on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Coach Hassan Balla's girls played a friendly match against the U20 team of the Binya Academy. The Lionesses were beaten 4-1. Earlier in the morning, however, they had a training session. The match enabled the coach to gauge the current level of his girls and to see what needs to be improved before the match against Egypt. FC Mans striker, Lamine Mana from France had joined the group for the training session, which ends in Yaounde today, January 9, before heading for Egypt. The first leg will take place on January 12, 2024 in Egypt and the return leg in Cameroon on January 21, 2024.
