DR Congo-Zambia : Set For Positive Start

The two teams will challenge each other today January 17, 2024 at the Laurent Poku Stadium in San Pedro.

The first round of matches at the ongoing TotalEnergies AFCON will end today, Wednesday January 17, 2024.  The Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo will play against the Chipolopolos of Zambia at the Laurent Poku Stadium in San Pedro. The encounter promises to produce a lot of fireworks as each side will be seeking to grab the first three points in their group. The Leopards are back into the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the previous edition in Cameroon. They were beaten 2-1 by Burkina Faso in a friendly clash recently before going to Côte d’Ivoire for the competition. DR Congo are aiming to re-establish themselves on the continental stage.
DR Congo were beaten 2-0 by Uganda in their last AFCON group opener and will be hoping for a positive start this time around. The Democratic Republic of Congo have been out of the limelight in recent years and are back in this edition of the tournament hopeful of lifting the AFCON title for the first time in five decades. Zambia on their part last appeared in the continental showpiece back in 2015 and will be looking to mark their return with a win.
