Rugby Africa Women Cup : Cameroon Begins Preparations

Some 40 players of the national women’s rugby XV team ended their first training camp in Akono near Yaounde on Saturday March 16, 2024.


The national women’s Rugby XV team will take part in the 2024 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup in Madagascar in May.  Ahead of the competition, preparations have begun in the country. Some 40 players of the national women’s rugby XV team ended their first training camp in the campus of Collège Stoll in Akono near Yaounde on Saturday March 16, 2024. The four-day training session aimed at getting the players on their feet after months without any competition. Last Saturday’s test match was an opportunity for spectators to have a clear idea of the Lionesses called upon to compete against Kenya and Madagascar. 
The training camp came on the heels of a technical meeting that took place presided by the President of the Normalisation Committee Prof. Felix Onana Etoundi. Speaking to journalists, Prof. Felix Onana Etoundi said Cameroon is preparing for an international competition in Madagascar and it is a question of winning so as to mount the podium in order to qualify for the World Rugby.
