After the Long Weekend: Bustling Continues…

Yaounde citizens resumed with their businesses and work yesterday February 12, 2025 after activities marking the Youth Day.
F ebruary 12, 2025. The time is about 7:00 a.m. Few pupils and students could be seen going to their various school premises. Yaounde citizens are bracing up to another day of work after a long weekend due to activities commemorating the 2025 Youth Day. The day seems to start off sluggishly with few taxi drivers along the road. But by 9:30 a.m. the entire town looks like a beehive with lots of traffic around major junctions. The city dwellers have gradually taken off with their usually bustling activities that characterise daily life in the capital city. Cameroon Tribune (CT) made a stop at some ministerial buildings and market squares in the town of Yaounde. Slowly, but steadily, individuals regained their jobsites. Going through the Ministries of Transport, Sports and Supreme State Audit Office, workers could already be seen in their offices by 8:30 a.m. The car park hosting courtrooms around the vicinity was already jam-packed. While several lawyers were already in different court case sessions, some could be seen making their way into the premises. Traders who usually occupy the pathway into the Supreme Court premises could be seen setting up their makeshift selling points. The atmosphere of bustling was also observed around the Ministries of Public Health, Finances and the “Pink building” hosting several different ministries. The car pack in these ministries were already occupied as civil servants were at their different duty posts. Some workers could be seen cleaning their desks while others had already settled on their day’s job. Some were preparing to begin coordinating meetings which normally take place on Mondays, but could not occur due to the public holiday.
