Election of Regional Councillors: ELECAM Fine-tunes Preparations

The Electoral Board held its fourth session as of right with regards to the election on October 15, 2025 to ascertain its level of readiness.

As November 30 draws closer, date for the election of Regional Councillors, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) is polishing up its preparedness to ensure a credible electoral process. To that effect, the fourth session as of right of the Electoral Board took place on October 15, 2025, with the Chairperson, Enow Abrams Egbe highlighting the pace covered thus far.

As explained by the Board Chair, the session was devoted to taking into account the decisions rendered by administrative Courts following petitions filed against the resolution of the Electoral Board on the approved lists of candidates for the election of Regional Councillors. This, he added, will enable the General Directorate of Elections to efficiently plan and organise the production of the relevant electoral materials and documents. “We will then evaluate, in detail, the progress of the operational preparations presented by the Director General of Elections, in light of the progress made so far. This report will provide us with a comprehensive overview of the tasks accomplished in various areas related to logistics, equipment deployment, the training of staff and electoral agents, as well as coordination between central and decentralised services,” Enow Abrams Egbe stated.

Members of the Electoral Board also reviewed and adopted a roadmap for their upcoming field visits to the different Subdivisions which is intended to supervise the preparatory activities for the election. The overall objective, he insisted, is to ensure close monitoring of the various stages of preparation in order to make sure that everything is implemented at the regional level for operations that conform to institutional standards.
