2025 African Youth Games : Team Cameroon Bearing Fruits

Team Cameroon is striving at the fourth African Youth Games, securing several medals just days into the competition ongoing in Luanda, Angola. As of December 13, 2025 the medal harvest included two golds, four silvers, and four bronzes; a total of 10. The official opening ceremony unfolded spectacularly on December 13, 2025 with Cameroon's delegation marching proudly in red, the national flag waving high. But the real fireworks began earlier on December 10, as competitors across several disciplines fought for precious metals. 
Karate dominated the medal count, with nine of the 10 medals. Gold medal heroics from Ilana Ngouadjio in the karate kumite +66kg category and Esther Kamte in the karete-kumite -53kg.  Silvers added shine to the collection: Farelle Gonpogni dazzled in individual kata; the men's kata-karate team delivered a cohesive team performance; Nguemo Marie Raphaël impressed in men's individual kata; and Ondoua Abessolo II Christ Yvan fought valiantly to silver in men's kumite -76kg.
