MTN Elite One: Extra Time For Day 19

Match day 19 of the MTN Elite Championship concluded on the pitches on May 17, 2026 but is evidently still playing extra time in offices. This is with the case of the game that saw PWD of Bamenda humiliate leaders Unisport (5- 0) at the Bamenda Proximity Stadium. Following this match, the Transitional Council for Professional Football better known by its French abbreviation, CTFP, issued a communique stating that during the match unsportsmanlike conduct and lack of fair play were observed in the presence of some match officials. After firmly condemning and promising to take the matter to competent disciplinary and judicial bodies within the federation, the body has dished out provisional suspensions. In effect, as precautionary measures, the CTFP has provisionally suspended match commissioner Jude Ndoh and match coordinator Martin Assang pending decisions of the competent commissions. But it did not end there. The Central Commission of Referees also stepped in with sanctions for the same match. The commission has suspended provisionally five referees for serious breach of their duties. They include Toukene Emeyene, Josue Bedine, Chris Zourmba, Ndanga Mundi and Benedict Ja Ni. Reports from Bamenda allegedly indicate that several incidents happened before and during the match that could raise eyebrows, notably the early red card shown to a Unisport player that sparked controversy. However, Unisport of Upper Nkam has reacted to dissociate itself from a publication on social media accusing referees of misconduct during their game. The club thereby condemned in firm terms any attempt to discredit referees and match officials and further reiterated their confidence in the institutions in charge of organising the championship and the selection of referees.
