UK Cameroon Chamber Of Commerce: Business Guide Available

The document launched at PROMOTE 2026 is a practical response to investor demands for clarity

Industry leaders at PROMOTE 2026 warned that Cameroon risks losing access to premium markets and sustainable financing without stronger governance and clearer investment rules. “The country does not just need investors. It needs the right investors. And they go where rules are clear and communities are respected,” Hera Mpondo, Senior Mining Strategy Adviser, noted in an interview with the media. Addressing that gap, the UK Cameroon Chamber of Commerce (UKCCC) on June 15 launched a new strategic investor guide at the trade fair, titled “UK-Cameroon Business Guide,” developed in partnership with the British High Commission and the UK Chamber of Commerce. The tool is designed to reduce regulatory uncertainty, a key complaint from foreign investors. “Today we launched a new business guide designed for investors worldwide who want to understand the essentials — what you need to know and what steps to take before entering the Cameroonian market. The guide outlines both the opportunities and the well-known challenges of doing business here, including energy supply, infrastructure gaps, customs procedures, the tax system, and general government bureaucracy,” the Chairman of the UK Cameroon Chamber of Commerce (UKCCC), Elias Pungong, said at the launch event. ”The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy, Paul Tasong, attended the launch in a show of government support. His presence signals that the government is listening and that steps are being taken to address these challenges,” Pungong added. The British High Commissioner, H.E. Matt Woods, oversaw the launch of the document. “As part of PROMOTE, our role is to support investment by giving investors a clear understanding of Cameroon’s legal framework and the tax rules that apply to their projects,” Linda Amadagana, a Cameroon Bar Association lawyer and managing partner of a business law firm, said.
