Pre-season Club Friendlies: Cameroonians Showing Positive Signs

Players like Christian Kofane of Bayer Leverkusen and Faris Moumbagna of Olympique de Marseille have already scored for their respective clubs over the weekend.

M ost football outfits abroad are stepping up preparations ahead of the new season. Some have already begun playing friendly matches to test the current form of their players after the break. A handful of Cameroonians playing their trade for these clubs have been showing positive signs; being im­ pactful and even scoring. This is the case of Christian Kofane of Bayer Le­ verkusen. The Cameroonian striker scored one goal in Bayer Leverku­ sen’s 7-0 victory over fifth-tier side Sportfreunde Baumberg in their first friendly on July 18, 2026, ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club equally announced that the friendly between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Carl Zeiss Jena, scheduled for Au­ gust 1, 2026, will not go ahead be­ cause the dates for the first Regio­ nalliga matches have been finalised. These matches are due to be played one day before and three days after the planned friendly. Fans who pur­ chased their ticket for the match in Jena through Bayer 04 will automa­ tically receive a full refund of the ticket price.
