7th Forum On China-Africa Media: More Cooperation In Audio-Visual Sector

Colourful Cameroon is among the audio visual programs that were selected to be broadcast on mainstream media in both regions.

The 7th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation has concluded in in Beijing, China on August 20, 2026. It held on the theme "Sharing New Opportunities for Development, Creating a New Future for Audio-Visual Media." This year's forum featured dialogue and exchanges on topics including "Empowering People-to-People Cooperation through Content Innovation," "Empowering Industrial Win-Win through Technological Cooperation," "Audio-Visual Services for Economic and Trade Development," and "Practical Applications of AI Integration in Radio, Film, Television, and Audio-Visual Media." A record-high 33 ministerial-level guests from African countries attended the event.

A series of activities were held, including an exhibition showcasing achievements in China-Africa cooperation in radio, film, television, and audio-visual media, the China-Africa Audio-Visual Youth Co-Creation Initiative, and a visit by African media delegations. African guests visited the Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Exhibition.

Through a joint declaration of the 7th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation both sides agreed to continue upholding the spirit of China-Africa friendship and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to the 5th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation. They also agreed to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of radio, film, television, and audio-visual media. Attendees noted that since President Xi Jinping announced the implementation of the "China-Africa Cooperation Initiative on Radio, TV and Audio-Visual Innovation" at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit, exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in news, content, communication, technology, and personnel have become broader and deeper. They also stated that China-Africa media will continue to serve as a bridge for people-to-people exchanges, empowering cooperation across all sectors through media transformation; actively expand cooperation in emerging formats such as micro-dramas, strengthen co-production and mutual translation and broadcasting, and promote closer bonds between the peoples of China and Africa through quality content; enhance cooperation on the application and governance of artificial intelligence, and drive the common progress of China-Africa media through technological innovation; and strengthen exchanges at high-level, grassroots, and youth levels to deepen mutual learning between China and Africa.

China and Africa also agreed that they will continue to strengthen news cooperation to present to the international community a true, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive picture of China-Africa development; deepen content cooperation to showcase vivid stories of China-Africa friendly exchanges and common development; and enhance youth talent exchanges to build a solid talent foundation for China-Africa media cooperation.
