“You Made Us Proud” President Biya Expresses Gratitude To WAFCON Winners

In a grand ceremony held at the Unity Palace in Yaounde this Saturday, August 22, 2026, President Paul Biya and First Lady Chantal Biya hosted an official presidential reception to celebrate the Indomitable Lionesses. Following their recent triumph at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON in Morocco. "On July 26, 2026, you hoisted the flag of Cameroon on the roof of Africa by winning the 14th edition of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations," President recalled in his address at the reception.

The gathering brought together state officials, sports dignitaries, and the technical team to honour a squad that secured Cameroon’s first-ever continental women’s football title with a victorious campaign concluding on July 26, 2026. After Cameroon beat Malawi 3-0. Beyond claiming the trophy, the Indomitable Lionesses sealed their qualification for the upcoming 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

"By claiming your first continental title, you have written one of the most beautiful pages in the sports history of our country," President Paul Biya told the Indomitable Lionesses.
