Defence and National Security: Deceased Soldiers’ Children Receive Educational Materials

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency yesterday, handed over packages of books, pens and other classrooms equipment on behalf of the Head of State to the concerned.

Educational establishments in the country are billed to begin on September 3. As part of back-to-school preparations, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, on behalf of the President of the Republic on August 27, 2018 handed over educational support materials to children of deceased military and gendarmerie personnel.

While handing over the consignment of support materials at the Yaounde General Headquarters Brigade, Minister Beti Assomo said the threeyear- old initiative is promoted by the Head of State, Paul Biya.

He noted that the nation will always comfort and support children of the fallen military officers, who died in active service while defending the territorial integrity of the country. While extending the condolences of President Biya to the affected families, he said the nation will strive to always ensure the welfare of its citizens.

The about 200 children received packages pertaining to their levels of education ranging from basic to secondary and higher educations. “It is with a feeling of compassion and hope that I present school needs, to orphans of military and gendarmerie personnel and orphans of vigilance committee members who lost their lives in active service. The State safeguards the fundamental right of education to every child,” he stated.
