Electoral Materials: ELECAM Assures Of Readiness On Time
The Chairperson of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Enow Abrams Egbe gave the assurance in Yaounde on August 30, 2018.
“We are confident that on October 7, 2018, we will be ready for the presidential election.” The Chairperson of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), Enow Abrams Egbe made the declaration on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Yaounde 101 Military Airbase.
The statement came after he led some ELECAM Board members, the Director General of Elections, Erik Essoussè and other officials to the National Printing Press, Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM) all involved with the printing of some electoral materials and the Yaounde 101Military Airbase where the material is stocked for subsequent dispatching to all parts of the country. Making an evaluation of their inspection visits, he said, “We discovered that everything is done in the right order.
Our impressions are excellent.” He thanked the General Manager of SOPECAM, Marie- Claire Nnana, the Director General of the National Printing Press, Walter Paul Komo and other stakeholders for their commitment to deliver the electoral materials on time. He equally congratulated the Director General of Elections at ELECAM, Erik Essoussè and his team for their professionalism.
The second lap of the inspection visit at SOPECAM was noticeably memorable. This because the General Manager Marie-Claire Nnana accompanied by some senior staff showed the ELECAM delegation round the production department of the corporation where the ballot papers and campaign materials of the various candidates are being produced.
At every step, the General Manager assisted by the Director of the Production Department, Ozela Claude Ignace gave explanations to the ELECAM Board chair on the functioning and the level of progress in the production of the material. All the produced materials are transported and stocked at the Yaounde 101 Military Airbase.
The visit to this structure was the last. The head of the Logistics, Transport and Dispatching sector of the Airbase, Dipita Jean Lucien did not only take the ELECAM team to all the localities where the materials were stocked but more importantly explained the procedures.
Materials found at the Airbase include electoral kits, polling booths, waste paper bags, ballot and campaign materials, envelops and badges, among others.
Some of the materials were already parked in containers ready for transportation to the field. All sorts of envelops produced by the National Printing Press already at the airbase are were packaged into cartons.
