Combatting Terrorism In The Far North Region: Security Centre To Be Created

The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, guaranteed Senators on November 22, 2018.

As part of measures to curb insecurity in the Far North Region, government has reassured Senators of its plans for the creation of a centre for the eradication and re-socilaisation of Boko Haram insurgents in the region. The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, guaranteed Senators on November 22, 2018 in a plenary at the House Chamber that the project will soon see the light of day. The plenary sitting dedicated for oral questions to members of government was chaired by the Vice President of the Senate, Senator Nfor Tambe Tando in the presence of the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Joseph LE, representing the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assembly, Amadou Ali.

Minister Beti Assomo was answering to the worry of Senator Abba Boukar who questioned the state of advancement in relation to governments announced plan of creating such a centre. The project to be constructed in the Mayo-Sava Division of the region, the Minister clarified, follows the instructions of the Head of State within his directives of combatting insecurity in the region and along the borders.
