Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey defended the proposal before parliament on November 23, 2018.
A draft 2019 budget totaling FCFA 52.791 billion for operations and investments in the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development has been presented before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly for examination and eventual adoption. The proposal awaiting the approval of parliamentarians was made by Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey on November 23. The Minister said the budget which has witnessed a significant increase from FCFA 47.979 billion in 2018 will enable the country meet its ambition to produce more, process, export and import less, as suggested by President Paul Biya during his inaugural speech on November 6, this year.“Processing would require industrialization which can only be possible when we have enough energy. Note however that the energy sector is being boosted by many projects on the national territory,” Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey noted. He told reporters shortly after his presentation that his ministry is looking forward to an opportunity to reinforce Public-Private Partnerships to smooth the progress of major infrastructure projects. He also said that it is the desire of the ministry to see the implementation of the second phase of the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper spur growth to meet expected projections. The Minister also pointed to council development plans that are going to be executed by municipal authorities as one of the priority actions in favour of regional development in 2019.»Read also : Elections Cameroon : retour sur les réseaux sociaux
