Rond Point Deido: Temporary Deviation Closure Incite Gridlock

The construction work that is ongoing at the Ports Boulevard will last for one week.

 

Commuters, bike riders and taxi drivers are currently grappling with serious traffic jam as a result of the temporary closure of the Ports Boulevard near the Sandaga Market. Vehicles from the West entrance into the port city of Douala like the Moungo Division, South West and Bonaberi and those from other parts of Douala passing through the Deido Rond Point are most affected.

According to a communiqué by the Senior Divisional Officer of Wouri, Naseri Paul Bea, the last phase of construction work at the deviation known as the Douala Ports Boulevard will last for a week. The construction work which is part of the project to construct the second bridge over the Wouri River, according to the SDO, will ease traffic flow upon completion.

Following the deviation blockage that consist part of the National Road n°3, vehicles are obliged to go through Rond Point 4e and Rond Point Deido. Vehicles heading to Bonaberi and those going to Bonamoussadi now ply the same stretch of road causing serious traffic...
