Mining Code In Gestation

A bill to this effect initiated on instructions of the President of the Republic is under scrutiny at the Senate.

 

In a bid to optimise resources generated from the mining sector for the economic development of the country, the government has tabled a bill in the National Assembly. The bill instituting the Mining Code was declared admissible by the Chairmen’s Conference of the Senate and a plenary sitting chaired yesterday November 24, 2016 in Yaounde by the Senate President, Marcel NiatNjifenji.

The bill initiated by government on instructions of the President of the Republic seeks to strengthen and improve the legal framework of mining activities in the country. The new legal framework, explanatory notes of the bill indicate, is the result of the in-depth review of the existing mining legislation.
