Vocational Training: Centres To Be Fully Operational

The Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training will in 2017 function with FCFA 17.7 billion.

 

Advanced Vocational Training Centres in Douala, Limbe and Sangmelima are expected to effectively go operational in 2017. Training centres for non-agricultural trades in rural areas in Bandjoun, Ndop, Ebebda and Maroua, the Sectoral Vocational Training Centres in Industrial Maintenance, Transport and Logistics in Edea and Food Processing in Douala with the French Debt Relief funds and the construction of the National Institute for Vocational Trainers and Programmes Development in Yaounde with a grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency are some priority projects for 2017.

Minister Zacharie Perevet of Employment and Vocational Training said the economic dimension of promoting employment, vocational training and integration activities given their added value to enhancing growth should not be overestimated. He revealed that 170,381 new jobs were created as at October 30, 2016. Figures from the ministry indicates that 150,000 learners graduate from vocational training schools each year against the backdrop of severe lack of trainers, appropriate infrastructure, programmes and financing of the functioning of vocational training ...
