Senate Scrutinises New Mining Code Bill

It was forwarded to the Senate for second reading after the National Assembly adopted it.

 

The Committee on Production and Trade of the Senate have examined the bill relating to the new mining code. The bill initiated by government on instructions of the President of the Republic seeks to strengthen and improve the legal framework of mining activities in the country. The Minister of Mines, Industries and Technical Development, Ernest Ngwaboubou took two days to explain to Senators of the Production and Trade Committee chaired by René Ze Nguele, the importance of the bill to the mining sector.

The new legal framework, he explained, is the result of the in-depth review of the existing mining legislation.
