Commonwealth Games : Queen’s Baton Relay In Cameroon

The baton arrived in the country yesterday, October 28, 2021 and will be leaving for Kenya on Saturday October 31, 2021.

The Queen’s Baton Relay for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham England arrived in Cameroon yesterday, Thursday October 28, 2021. The 16th edition of the Queen’s Baton Relay, which marks the official kick off of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will end tomorrow, October 30, 2021 in Yaounde Cameroon. On this occasion, the Commonwealth Games Association of Cameroon, the British Council and the Cameroon government are organising activities to mark the three-day event.  
Arriving from Ghana, the hero baton accompanying a message from the Queen of England was officially handed to the CGAC President at the Yaounde International Airport. Today, October 29, 2021 the baton will visit the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of External Relations, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education and some schools. Tomorrow, Saturday October 30, 2021, the relay activity involving baton bearers from the various national sports federations will take place departing from the Reunification Monument and arriving at the Yaounde City Council courtyard where the message from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education will be read at the end.
