Russia-Africa Summit : President Paul Biya Leaves St Petersburg

The Head of State and wife, Chantal left Russia yesterday after successfully taking part at the second Russia-Africa Summit.

After a fruitful participation at the Second Russia-Africa Summit that took place in St Petersburg from 27-28 July, 2023, the President of the Republic, Paul Biya and wife, Chantal Biya left the Russian city yesterday 30 July, 2023. It was amidst a crowd of happy and cheering Cameroonian population that the Presidential couple descended from the Four Season Hotel yesterday morning at 9:30AM local time (7:30AM in Yaounde). They were heading for the Leningrad Airport where departing from St Petersburg was fixed for about 10:00AM local time.                   
Outside the hotel, the anxious Cameroonian population increased their drum-beats and sang songs to demonstrate their patriotic spirit. They showered praises on the Head of State for honouring them by being present at the historic rendez-vous in St Petersburg saying his presence alone could change so much in their living conditions in Russia and the way their Russian neighbours would henceforth see them. Bolstered by such feelings and promises for better days thanks to the physical presence of the Head of State, they danced excitedly as the announcement about his arrival out of the hotel was made known to them.  In response, Mr Biya raised both hands as a show of gratitude to his compatriots for their support, love, and patriotic sense.
