NW Councils: Foundational Guides To Enhance Performance Available

The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West, Tamfu Simon Fai, together with his team have made available working documents to enable the public better under their role in accompanying councils in serving the public. Tamfu Simon Fai during a press briefing on October 14, 2025 presented three foundational Guides produced by the institution to harmonize a level ground from which they can stand to rate the performance of councils in the region.

In his opening statement, North West PIC reiterated the background from which the Institution was created and the conditions laid down for the discharge of the duties. As a pioneer team, they faced a series problems emanating from the fact that councils in the region didn't have a uniform way of administrstion. The councils were each charging different rates for services some of which were even supposed to be free. " We had frustrations of uniform administration by the councils because they were charging different rates and we knew were in the same country. We discovered that the mayors were applying text that were not regulated," Tamfu Simon Fai explained. Faced with these challenges, the PIC embarked on coming up with Guides which will regulate the management of councils in the region pending the codes that the country will come out with for the management of the councils.
