Bamenda: Massive Participation

Pupils, students, members of socioprofessional organisations, ministries and the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement effectively participated in Bamenda.
The 60th edition of Youth Day in Cameroon organised on the theme, “Youth at the heart of great hopes, for a united, stable and prosperous Cameroon,” is now history. The event will forever be remembered as one that recorded a heavy participation in the North West Regional capital, Bamenda, where Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique presided over the celebration in the Bamenda Commercial Avenue Grandstand on February 11, 2026. The celebration marked by the award of prizes to laureates in diverse domains and thrilling march past was an indication of progressive return to normalcy. Talking to the press while appreciating the participation rate, Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique was highly impressed. He said, “I will like to first of all congratulate the youths of the North West Region who having listened to the address of the Head of State and have mobilised today to show to the nation that the North West Region is back.” He told the youths, “to follow keenly and implement the message of the Head of State who has lauded their contribution to nation building, peacekeeping in our Region and ask them to continue that way. They have to be agents of peace and development wherever they find themselves and harness the potentials of our nation that have been given by God Almighty.” Indeed, the prize award ceremony took place after the replay of the Head of State’s message.
