2015 Human Rights Report: Cameroon Records Progress

Highlights of the report contained in a 1,000-page bilingual document were presented yesterday in Yaounde by the Ministry of Justice.

 

The report of the Ministry of Justice on Human Rights in Cameroon in 2015 is now available. The 1,000-page bilingual document divided into three parts and a preliminary chapter dedicated to the cooperation between Cameroon and international and regional organisations of promotion and protection of human rights, was presented yesterday in Yaounde. The presentation ceremony at the conference hall of the Ministry of Justice was chaired by the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Justice, Jean Pierre Fogui, in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps, government ministries and civil society organisations.

According to Mr. Fogui, the report which was drawn up in a participatory approach involving contributions from different stakeholders shows progress made by the State in the promotion and protection of human rights in Cameroon. The progress, he said, is not without constraints notably the deficit of human resources in the education sector, putting in place of quantitative and qualitative health system, improving detention conditions amongst others.
