Cameroon-Japan : Advancements In Relations Celebrated

This was during a State diner offered in honour of the outgoing Ambassador on November 4, 2021.

A State diner was on November 5, 2021 offered the outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, Osawa Tsutomu by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, on behalf of the President of the Republic. The Ambassador who equally awarded the medal of Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour. 
In his toast at the diner, Minister Mbayu said the Ambassador has since December 14, 2018 when he presented his letters of credence to the President of the Republic worked tirelessly to strengthening relations which are over 60 years old. The Minister added that bilateral relations between the two countries in the political, economic and social spheres witnessed a remarkable evolution under Ambassador Osawa’s tenure. At the political sphere, the Minister cited Cameroon’s participation at the seventh edition of the Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development (TICAD 7) in August 2019, on the sidelines of which a partnership agreement in livestock was signed between the concerned ministries of the two countries. 
Within the economic sector, the Minister cited Japan’s support of material in the fight against Covid-19, the suspension of its debt servicing with Cameroon estimated at FCFA 420 million, support to agricultural sector through the supply of agricultural tools estimated at FCFA 10 billion, rice development project and the injection of dynamism in the private sector. “Japan is one of the major providers of humanitarian aid to Cameron. At a time when partners were hesitating to invest in the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction of the North West and South West Regions, Japan took the lead.
